There is a woman in the Inn, sitting at a table. She is seemingly reading a book, but mostly watching everyone around her.

What does she look like? Well, there's the rub. She's an attractive woman, but her exact features can't really be quantified. It's more than possible that her looks are literally in the eye of the beholder.

While he still has a music player going, his grand plan is starting to fail him; he's taken note of the fact that there's a composition program on this thing.

Carl's downstairs reading, tonight, in another of his attempts to try avoiding eye strain. (It's an occupational hazard, when you spend as long poking at computers as he does.)
Even though you can't tell from the cover, it's something he's read several times before, so he'd be up for conversation if such presented itself.

Last night was... Carl doesn't want to talk about it. The beginning, anyway. The part where he got a full morning's sleep - in his own apartment for the first time in a week - was good.
